Research
Laser Scanners are one of the main research area in Geomatics. Turin Polytechnics (Politecnico di Torino) is one of the most active Italian university in the field; its research team tested the first laser scanner in Italy (Riegl - LPM 25HA).
Since 2001 Politecnico di Torino has carried on an interesting research about laser scanner; it has lead to many national and international publications, with some national and international research awards:
- best Phd Work - AUTEC - 2005
- best poster award - International conference CIPA - 2005
- best poster award - National conference ASITA - 2007
In 2006 Politecnico di Torino was the first university in Italy to gave the birth to a spin-off company working in the Geomatic field: SIR, Innovative Survey Resources s.r.l. SIR is aimed at apply results or university research to real cases.
